Ebadot Hossain eventually broke the partnership by bowling Alex Carey for 19, bringing an end to a potentially important stand.
Carey's departure came with Australia's score on 129, leaving the hosts facing renewed pressure. The wicket also opened the door for Bangladesh's bowlers to attack Australia's lower middle order with the score still far from a commanding position.
Smith Attempts to Resist
Despite the procession of wickets around him, Steven Smith continued to resist with characteristic composure.
