$1 Billion Deal Signed for Eastern Refinery Expansion in Presence of Prime Minister

Bangladesh has taken a significant step toward strengthening its energy security after the government signed a financing agreement worth about US$1 billion with the Islamic Development Bank for the modernisation and expansion of Eastern Refinery Limited. The agreement was signed on Thursday at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the presence of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Islamic Development Bank Group Chairman Dr Muhammad Al Jasser.
