The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially recognized Tamim Iqbal as the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). This recognition formally confirms his position in representing the BCB and overseeing its administrative affairs at the international level. Officials believe that the ICC's recognition will strengthen the BCB's role and enhance its participation in global cricket governance.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially recognized Tamim Iqbal, the newly elected President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and former captain of the Bangladesh national team.
Earlier, the National Sports Council (NSC) dissolved the BCB Board of Directors led by Aminul Islam and formed an ad hoc committee with Tamim Iqbal as its president. Following the BCB Board elections held last month, Tamim was elected BCB President for a four-year term. As the newly elected president, he also attended the ICC Annual Conference held in Scotland earlier this month.
In a press release, the ICC also announced the formation of two new sub-committees, with the BCB President appointed to lead one of them.
At a time when franchise cricket is expanding rapidly around the world, Tamim Iqbal has been named Chair of the ICC Franchise Cricket Committee, one of the governing body's most significant committees. The five-member committee also includes Rudy van Buuren (Cricket Namibia), Devajit Saikia (Board of Control for Cricket in India – BCCI), Richard Gould (England and Wales Cricket Board – ECB), and Todd Greenberg (Cricket Australia).
The ICC also announced the formation of a second sub-committee, the Governance Review Committee, which will be chaired by Devajit Saikia of the BCCI. The committee's other members are Pholetsi Moseki of Cricket South Africa and Dr. Ross McColl, the ICC's Independent Director.
